Subject: Tires for 6Jx15 - Again!
Content-Type: TEXT/plain; charset=us-ascii

I am sure this subject has appeared frequently but a quick look at the archives didn't turn up answers I wish.

I would like to know exactly what tires, Manufacturer-model-size, people are using on 6 x 15 inch rims. Let me point out that I am interested in tires with a load rating at least as good as the 185x14 original Michelins which is just in excess of 1700 pounds per tire and which keep the overall diameter between 25 and 26 inches, close to the original.

I have looked at all the Yokohama's and can find nothing. I do not know about the often reported Y370. Does anyone know if this is available in 15 inch?

The Michelin Agilis in 205/65R15C is a good possibility. This is the tire VW fits on the Eurovan (I believe) and has a load rating of 1874 pounds. I am particularly interested in hearing from people who have fitted this tire to Vanagons. I would like to know how they feel it handles- performance and wear experience.

If you would respond directly to me, I will post a summary of responses I receive to the list. I think the more data you can provide the more helpful the summary will be. For example, including the diameter and load rating of your tires will help people decide whether they are interested in that particular tire or not. If you wish to include data on the wheel, width of spacers, and whether you have any clearance problems, I will include that in my summary as well. Thanks in advance.
