Hi Joe,
    Engine noise that happens only when accelerating (engine under load) is
not a good thing, probable main bearing. Usually much worse than your french
phrase. A main bearing is more of a dull thumping sound than a clicking
lifter sound or clacking rod bearing sound. So it could be something else,
check your CVs,  V belts and pulley clearance.
