I doubt that the Vanagon is popular with thieves. That certainly is not my motivation for a car alarm anyway. My motivation is more for protecting the contents than the van itself. I go for 6 or 8 weeks in the spring and I take a lot of stuff with me, including my laptop computer and printer. Expensive stuff. Generally, I don't like car alarms. But with the van its more like have a home burglar alarm.
