Steven, knowing what I do now, I would recommend biting the bullet and getting the hose from Camelback VW in Phoenix, AZ. for about $20.

One thing, you have to remove the oil filter AND the cooler to replace the hose. So I recommend replacing both hoses off the cooler at the same time while you have it apart. Sort of preventive maintenance, you know.
