Stuart - That analysis doesn't square with the Subarus many of my clients drive and tell me about. I have one client who has been a Subaru mechanic for 25 years who tells me the engines are rock-solid as long as folks maintain them properly.

I've never seen a Porsche which had 175,000 miles on it, let alone on the original motor. I'd love to see the maintenance records/expenditures on a such a vehicle, though!
