Hi Doug,

You will probably receive much more informative responses than this, but I was looking into this myself a few months ago and found out that there are really three "safe" options. Some westys came with a removeable 2 passenger middle seat. You can take it out and use it as camp furniture to get it out of the way. You may already have the tracks in your van for this. This is your most seats seating option. A few westys also came with a single person swivel seat that mounts in the center of your van. This may also fit in the tracks if your van has them (not too sure about this). Another option is to get one of the jump seats that was available on the Carat / Wolfsberg passenger vans. This goes behind the front passenger seat and is also removeable. You will need the special mounting bracket that attaches to the back of the front seat pedestal. You will have to fabricate the in-the-floor bracket. This is not nearly as bad as it sounds and I could forward you some info on this that I got from other listmembers if you decide to go this route.

All of these seats are original VW equipment. Several list vendors get these in every now and then. Bus Depot advertised a single jump seat just a few days ago. Chris (JordanVw@aol.com) seems to usually have a few of the middle seats. Expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $300 depending on the desired seat, condition, and who you get it from. If you search the archives at www.vanagon.com for "middle seat" and "jump seat" you will find some more details on these options.

Hope this helps,

Steve
