I've been on this list a while, and in that time many, many list members
have praised AVP. There have been dozens, maybe hundreds of messages
posted about their great engines and service.
Now, one person has posted a message that is negative about AVP, and
suddenly people on the list are scrambling to trash them. One message
mentioned a boycott.
It seems that the dispute isn't over whether AVP will honor their warranty.
It's about whether the amount they have offered for LABOR is fair. Get
real! If I go down to my FLAPS and buy a starter, or alternator, or any
other item, and it fails while in the warranty period, they will be happy
to replace it at no charge. However, if you think they will pay for the
labor to remove and replace it, you are sadly mistaken.
Nobody I know of covers the labor to replace a defective part unless they
themselves installed the part to begin with. I am amazed that AVP offered
anything towards the labor. The fact that they did pushes them up a big
notch in my estimation.
So, it appears to me that it is still 100 or more to 1 in favor of AVP on
the list, and I will continue to recommend them.
I also note that a couple of months ago, a BUNCH of people posted to the
list concerning their problems with another vendor, and yet nobody called
for a boycott of the Bus Depot. Why the turnaround here?
They're nice folks at AVP, and I, for one, am still happy two years later
with the engine they built for me. They also bent over backward to find me
other parts I needed, and stayed on the phone with me for about 1/2 hour to
talk me through one procedure that had me baffled.
Please don't trash a company that has had nothing but praise because of one
allegation by one person. That's just not right.
