The sun shown in Halifax today, so I thought I'd fix up a few bits on the van. I pulled the headlights and went inside, I took out the bulbs and looked inside. To my surprise, the larger rectangular headlight had a black, metal, nonreflective tube suspended inside the light chamber (like a toilet paper role) into which the bulb goes. this seems to force the light out both ends of the tube rather than side to side. Strange??? For any purest responding to this: I have a 91 Cdn syncro westy, numbers on the back of the headlamp: Hella D255 941 005 B VW 0 1DD 004875 01 T 12V 9004 SSB 305 SAE H 84 I'll now try and clean the light chambers as below.
