OK guys. I'm taking the plunge again on Saturday. Maybe. Found a neat Wolfsburg for the right price, but..... The owner is now hedging concerning overheating. First he said it did not overheat, and that he had head work done not that long ago. (The guy is 72 and occasionally loses his stream of thought. Talked amost 45 minutes about a business trip to Iowa which had nothing to do with the van.) He now says the thing always ran hot when the A/C was on. What should I look for in this vanagon? I understand that 1/2 to 3/4 is normal for the water temp. Ron's page said to let it idle for approx 30 min and my mechanic says take on the interstate and run it at 65 for a while also. I plan on doing a compression test also. Anything else I should look for? (Rear heater core was replaced some time ago)
