It is the Standard IMO to do headgaskets in the car. We've (Volks Cafe) NEVER pulled an engine to do headgaskets only.

As you wrote, your engine is a low mile engine so the hardware holding on the exhaust, and other components would be basically unrusted and easy to take apart. This fact makes the time involved Much less.

Now the fact that you wanted to use a guy that had "Never done this job before" Leaves a little to be desired too???

IMO, A decent Tech could do this job in 3+ hours if the job only consisted of replacing 1 head and the head had been done in the recent past there would be little to no work in prep??

And yes, I've done this job personally and that's what I'm basing my time estimate on too. Comments or questions invited.
