Been really busy pulling apart Vanagons lately. I stumbled across a '79 Aircooled Vanagon behind a local car dealership. They wouldn't sell the van because they got it from an impound yard and didn't have a title. So they wanted to part her out. I am basically tired of parting out Vanagons since I have been doing this pretty much non-stop for the past couple of weeks. He was going to let me have the engine and tranny for $100. I just needed to put a battery in the van and hotwire it to see if it ran or not and then drop the motor and trans out. Well it sounded like a really good deal but I just didn't feel like it and I have never seen anyone on the list ever looking for an AC Vanagon motor so I wondered if I could actually sell it after I pulled it. What do you think, major mistake or did I do the right thing by not wasting my time on it? As a side note, this van (like the '87 Wolfsburg I pulled apart last week) looked as though someone had been living in it. They had a porta-pottie in it and curtains, and bedding. I guess vans are good for something other than driving, and parts sheds. They must make good temporary housing too. :) Ken Wilford Van-Again John 3:16
