Because the tee is down stream of the thermostat (which is closed) and is the heating pipes are cross connected to the output radiator hose on the engine block, the tee that is hook into the heater system pushes water through the engine block, input radiator hose, radiator, and out the end of the disconnected output radiator hose. If the heater control on the dash is in the hot position, I imagine that it pushed water through the heater cores as well but I did not verify this. I also should have had in the instructions to put the heater control lever to hot. Regardless of the theories, When I drained the block and radiator there was no coolant and only trace amount of sediment in the entire cooling system -- so it accomplished flushing the system.

Also, one other person reported having trouble with these plastic tee's later leaking or breaking. I am going to replace the tee when finished with a copper pipe.

What about the thermostat? =20 Don't you have to remove it first in order to get proper flow? Also, = what about the heater core?
