Subject:      Splicing weather proofing moulding?

The weather stripping around the bottom lip of both front doors is
coming apart and holding water in the rubber moulding.

I striped some weather proofing moulding off of a junked van and I
am wondering if it is possible to splice in a piece - say from about
2 feet up the sides of the door and down around the bottom and
back up to about window height.   I know that I will have to water
proof the splice.

This is a "free" fix for me and cheaper than buying all new weather
proofing moulding.  Any Ideas???   Malcolm S
