Dear Folks, I have been in this room as a listener for over a year. And on occasion will respond If I've been there done that so as to help someone out. But I've got a 87' Vanagon that is acting up . And I need " You All's " help. Here's the story... When I first encountered the van it was not wanting to crank up after being shut down (hot). So I say O.K. lets check cold start valve to see it is stuck open. It is not.Well then do we have ignition? This what I found. The spark from the coil was very fast (too fast) as you turned the engine over( with the ignition switch), AND simutaniously the tach needle was jumping around. Once in a blue moon it will try to start and sputter. And when it does it is rich. Anybody got any ideas as to what is going on? Or what other tests etc. need to be done? Thanks. Regards, Bill Webster Meridian,MS. |
