You might look in the Bentley manual, as I think there is a section on how all
the body attachments fit. I'd guess that there are holes drilled in the body
that the studs fit into, and if the slots in the studs are facing down, then the
idea would be that the flap is pushed into the body and then down, so that the
body panel slides up into the slot in the stud - which would also hold it in.
Also, for the person who was having trouble getting theirs off, once you unscrew
the bottom, try sliding the mud flap directly UP before you try pulling it out.
