Probably one of the best empirical tests for blown head gaskets anywhere. Went up the much more moderate *New* Priest Grade once with combustion (not water) leaking head gaskets in summer.... all heaters running full blast, windows down, about 5 miles an hour, needle flailing up and down, lights blinking...the scouts who were passengers thought I was wacko, a point of view with some merit, since the subtleties of the failure modes of the wasserboxer were still a mystery at that time.
