Since this problem began, I removed the top grill and found that my radiator
was loose. Every start and stop it would move back and forth...thunk-thunk!
On close inspection, it appeared that the posts on each side of the
radiatior at the top, fit into a hole in the metal frame just above it. In
my case the pin didn't fill the hole, allowing the radiator to move back and
forth. I thought that to be a bit strange, and made a call to Camelback VW.
Their microfische showed 4 rubber bushings, one for each corner of the
radiator, were supposed to be installed on the posts when the radiator was
properly installed. That provides security and vibration damping.

Don't know what happened to mine, but they cost $0.38 each. Recommend all
check their radiator to see that the bushings are there. Their absence could
result in radiator damage.
