Thanks. Sounds like good solid advice. After crawling around under the Syncro this weekend trying to adjust the shift linkage (frustrating!) I have lost some confidence in my ability to work on this beasty. Ordinarily I consider myself to be a pretty competent mechanic.

That being said, I am bringing "Klaus" to a local Wasserboxer guru (Mike Corry of Corry Motors in Santa Barbara, CA) for a complete physical and budgetary assessment. (Figure out what repairs I will need to budget for the next year)

Hopefully, the budget will still allow for the occasional nice cabernet with dinner, and the occasional evening out... :-)
