Tires, Tires....I am the second owner of my 82 Westy. It came from the factory with Continental 185R14 tires with a load range of 1720lbs. Does that tell you something???? Why would VW put that load range on a Westy? Me thinks it could have something to do with weight and safety? So why risk the life of your loved ones? The differences in cost between tires is mote. Go for safety and stability.

BTW I put Yoko Y370 195/75R-14 load range D 1710lbs on my Westy. Another plus side to these tires is that they are M&S rated. They cost me under $60/tire on sale at Sears. :-)

My dollar two ninety eight :-)
