Dear David,

The sink pump is pretty simple and easy to get to.

Sit in the rear seat facing forward. Inside the bin at your left elbow, there is a small panel in the bottom, held down by two screws. Remove those two screws, and you'll see a large screw off cap. Remove that cap; this is the inside your water tank. In the bottom that water tank you'll see a blue cylindrical object, with tube and some protected wires running to it. This is the pump.

If you turn the sink to the on position, which on hours is to the left, the pump should be in motion. If all of your fuses are good, and the pump fails this test, you should replace it. There are no user service will parts inside the pump, and for the cost of replacing it you would be wasting your time trying to fix it.

While you have the lid off, you may consider sanitizing and rinsing the inside using a 1:25 mixture of household bleach and water, followed by two rinses with a 1:25 mixture of baking soda to water (dissolved), then a clear water rinse.

New pumps are available through many of the list vendors for about $20-$30. Once you have running water in your van you'll never go back to camping dry again.

Cheers,

I've been testing the camping equipment in my "new" '87 camper, and it has all worked well thus far. The only part I'm not sure about is the sink pump.

I filled the tank and the indicator lights worked properly. The two fuses on the driver's pillar are intact, but the pump makes no sound when I turn the knob. The PO claims that she never used any of the camping equipment, and it looks that way. The wiring looks fine, so I'm wondering if there's anything I can check before assuming the pump is bad. The fridge and stove work quite well, so I'm pretty happy as it is.

Thanks for the help.

David
