Subject: Another conversion (was: What is THAT thing)

Thought I'd chime in on this story:

There was also another conversion company in the '70's and early 80's that used a "step-sided" pop-top, ASI. They were made in Vancouver Washington. Their top had the steps on the sides, with a slight kick-up in the back, luggage bucket in the front, and went straight up about 3 feet, similar to the Countyhomes Camper. I don't know what brand of equipment (fridge/stove etc) they used. The layout was mostly like the westy, but the counter for the sink and over the fridge was about 6 inches wider than the westy, and the fridge seemed to have more space inside. They stopped their conversions in the early 80's, not sure why. They had lots of bay window conversions but not too many Vanagons. I remember them specifically because they isolated a problem with the a/c on my '78. No one else had a clue.

Just trying to muddy up the waters a bit...
