I started to reply to this yesterday, but we had a small fire here at work, and I lost 3 pages that I typed up...And I hate to type. SO I 'll have to be breif... WHen you stand on the brakes you can push the pedal to the floor, maxing out the pressure on every part in the system. The pressure is limited by that stop at the end on the pedel travel. Everything in the system gives a little. Put SS lines in and they don't give. Other parts in the system will have to give more. VW has this pressure set so everything will hold up just so. MOre pressure and I don't want to be in that vehicle in a panic stop.

If you Van is not stopping, and everything seams to be in good working order, my guess would be the brakes themself are made of poor friction material. This is the number on casue of brake problems today.
