Tonya & all- The chief reason we want a smaller steering wheel is to ease/improve movement around the front area while camping. The stock steering wheel prevents the driver's seat from turning 90 degrees...it goes about 80 unless you open the window. And then, you still have that colossal wheel almost in your lap. Since we aren't using our Westy much except for camping, this is our chief concern. Cheers, G. Matthew Bulley Bulley-Hewlett & Associates www.bulley-hewlett.com Cary, NC USA 888.468.4880 tollfree

That huge thing was the first thing that struck me when I test-drove my van at the dealer. Told my husband it felt like I was driving a bus at first (like real big-bus). It was very different being so big, but also EXTREMELY comfortable. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it's a perfect fit. My elbows can rest comfortably on the armrests and hold each side of the wheel. Very stress-free driving. My husband thinks so too - can easily, comfortably, drive long trips. I just can't see a smaller wheel being comfortable, but that's just me I guess. Just my two cents, Tonya 87 Vanagon GL Wolfs |
