ooops.   I guess that was 100 Celcius degrees.  You'll note that the front
Diff has pretty significant cooling fins at the back section to dissipate
the heat from the VC.   I don't live in a hot part of the continent, but I
would guess that the ambient temp is a minor factor in the trigger point
for lock-up.
