<< I was just curious does any one know why volkswagon changed from westfalia to winnabago? Does westfalia still excist? Was their any changes is the westfalia package in all the years of vanagon? And does anyone know if the company westfalia has a web site? Did they ever do any other things other than vw conversions? Where the conversions done at a vw factory or at a westfalia factory? Is their more than one location of westfalia factory? >>

VW stopped selling westy's over here because the EV Westy got too expensive and nobody bought it. VWOA imported barebones EV panelvans to the Winnebago factory in (Indiana?) or wherever they are in the midwest, and could sell a better outfitted EV Winnebago for less money than a EV Westy. Westfalia is a German based company, independant from VW, other than the fact that they do a camper conversion to a VW van. Westfalia-Werke makes everything from trailer hitches, to flatbed trailers, to pull behind campertrailers, to camper conversions to other cars, or vans (ive seen a Ford Westfalia van in England) to camping tents and supplies, etc..etc. think of Westfalia-Werke GMBH as a combination between U-Haul and Winnebago Industries. All VW vans were made at VW's factory at Hannover, then shipped to Westfalia Weidenbruck for the camper conversion.
