Get two large vice grip pliers, pinch off the water lines and remove them. You shouldn't lose much coolant. Fill the overflow reservoir up to the cap when you reassemble, and check the level after a few miles. The system should purge the small amount of air introduced on its own, and the level will go down in the overflow bottle when the engine cools off.

An alternative solution would be to remove the oil filter nipple that goes through the oil cooler into the case. You would need to purchase another nut to fit this and lock the two together to extract the nipple. Either way should work fine and not be that much trouble.

BTW, when you do want to remove the water jacket drain plugs just drill a 1/2" hole in the protective sheet metal. A long hex key will reach up to the plugs. Easy! -- Stuart MacMillan Manager, Case Program 800-909-8244 ext 208
