The right oil filter is cheap.  I sell the genuine Mann/Mahle for $4.29 (min
purchase 4).  Cheap insurance.  Certainly not worth saving a few cents for a
filter that may not have the correct flow characteristics for the
wasserboxer engine.

But there are also other possibilities.  Could be a bad sender (also cheap
to replace).  Or thin oil (I usually recommend 20W50, or at absolute minimum
10W40; certainly something a bit heavier than 10W30).  Or even if the
pressure is in fact a bit low, sometimes simply stretching the oil pressure
relief spring just a tad will increase it measurably.
