Subject: 86 Syncro Westie for sale - aaargh!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I should not have visited the VW dealer yesterday - there on the lot was a 1986 Syncro Westfalia - 270,000km, brown in colour with newer paint. Looking over the receipts is a 5 year old "new" engine, new tires (passanger) and the interior is in very good shape. Transmission shifts life a dream - way better than my thought to be pretty decent Double Cab transmission! The van drove great, but upon entering it there was a horrible smell - DEAD MOUSE - under the front seats was mouse poo and a half eaten fridge / stove manual, under the rear seat was mouse poo and somewhere in there was a dead stinking mouse - yuk! They are asking $13,995 CAD

Pros - 5 year old "new" engine - smooth as silk transmission - new tires - decent interior - new CVs in past 3 years - tinted windows - never winter driven for the past 5 years

Cons - dead mouse smell - 185/75R14 passanger tires - start of seam rust on the rear passanger quarter - oily looking VC - all four lights are broken - no rear diff locker :( - consignment sale

So, should I take the plunge - they are willing to take my 85 Cabriolet in on trade for 13,995 - 5,500 = 8495 x 1.14 (Taxes) = $9684.30 This is really 4684.39 more than I can really afford - decisions decisions decisions ....

Help!
