Hey Bob, don't get mad, but it could have been your technique? The weld area has to be prepped and scoured like any other surface adhesive to get a grip. On a pressure sensitive application like exhaust, an area around the hole sufficient in size must be cleaned pretty well and plenty of JB weld evenly applied so it will harden into a good bond. If the weld is 'lobbed' on piecemeal, this tends to make a weak weld. Applying a significant amount to the entire surface area quickly and leaving it alone tends to make a better, stronger, secured bond. But who knows how you applied it, or how much experience you have with JB Weld. From your description, however, seems like you could re-do it and it would hold just fine. Try the trick I described with the tape --- If you didn't see that, let me know if you are interested.
