82 Westfalia recently had leaking muffler and right heater box replaced. Since then there has been a slight improvement in volume and temperature of warm air flowing during the cold weather (though still inadequate). Since the warm weather has arrived though, the air flow is actually hot, and I can't shut it off! It really comes pouring out at highway speeds. It's possible that the previous slimy mechanic who did most of the fire damage work, failed to properly re-connect all the air/temperature flow levers to the cables. As a temporary quick fix (I'm afraid a proper fix=lots of mechanic's time=lots of $), is there any problem with simply blocking off the foot well air vents (scotch/duct tape, stuff an old sock into them, etc.)? Is there any concern with too much heat build up and/or melting of ducts? - Steven Heller Toronto, Canada |
