There is no easy way to attach a tow bar to a Vanagon. The bumper is to weak and is only held on with 2-8mm bolts. You should use a dolly or flat bed. If towing far, then remove the drive shafts when towing on a dolly. Raising the front of the transmission will cause some of the bearings to run dry.
