Bravo! I have 100 messages in my mailbox each morning, most of which are saying "I agree...", or "My grandma...", or "That's a good one...". Not much real Vanagon content anymore. This needs to be fixed. What I suggest is a list where a person can pose a question, as they do now, but people on the list reply DIRECTLY to the person posing the question. Then the person is obligated to summarize the replies received, and post a new message starting with the word "SUMMARY:", the resulting fix/info, and a list of the people that replied with their attached messages. For example: --------------------------------------------- From: ralph@ralph.com Subject: Vanagon cold idle problem My vanagon runs roughly on cold mornings! What could be wrong? --------------------------------------------- < then the replies roll in directly to ralph@ralph.com > < he fixes the problem > < then he posts: > --------------------------------------------- From: ralph@ralph.com Subject: SUMMARY: Vanagon cold idle problem Thanks to: gerry@gerry.com bruce@bruce.com joe@joe.com Gerry correctly pointed out that the throttle gobble sensor should be set to 10 degrees off center and the oxygen checked with a sniff meter. All is now well. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This would reduce the amount of messages, and give people a clear indication of what is in a message. It also helps archiving! The SUMMARYs become a virtual cookbook for Vanagon maintenance. |
Please note - During the past 17 years of operation, several gigabytes of
Vanagon mail messages have been archived. Searching the entire collection
will take up to five minutes to complete. Please be patient!
