I was a total VW neophyte and new comer to auto repair when I came to the list last August. Just to show others in the same position what can be accomplished with the help of the list, I am giving a list of the projects I have accomplished on my 90 Westy Syncro:

1. Added quieter fans to my Dometic fridge to increase cooling capacity. 2. Increased size of Dometic fridge passive side vent. 3. Installed Auxiliary Battery, larger wire, fuse, relay, and manual bypass as jump starter. 4. Installed cigarette lighter near rear seat to power computer off auxiliary battery. 5. Installed lights in close closet and above rear most storage space. 6. Rewired cabin light so it runs off auxiliary battery instead of starter battery. 7. Installed 2nd dome light on passenger side. 8. Installed cigarette lighter on driver's side for added power access. 9. Installed headlight left on warning buzzer. 10. Installed auto alarm with remote door locking. 11. Installed pin switches (for auto alarm) on slide door and rear hatch. 12. Ran a bundle of six extra wires in conduit from dash to engine compartment. 13. Installed relay to disable fuel pump if auto alarm tripped. 14. Installed venting tubes from starter battery to under van. 15. Added secure mount and 2nd spare in rear storage area. 16. Cooled A/C fuse and relay wires by cleaning contacts. 17. Removed rear heater (had leak) for extra space under seat. 18. Had braces welded on rear tow hooks so receiver hitch bike rack won't break tow hooks. 19. Adding (soon) E-Code H-4 headlights for safer night and bad weather vision. 20. Added grab handle on driver A post (very handy). 21. Hook up to auxiliary batter for solar panel charging. 22. Trickle charger for 110 v charging of auxiliary battery. 23. Made bug screen for slider door (can close door with it on). 24. Made bug screens for driver and passenger door windows. 25. Make set up for tarp awning... slider door side. 26. Small tarp to shade fridge side. 27. Installed new radio cassette player and 4 JBl speakers. 28. Installed level indicators visible from driver's seat. 29. Portable catalytic heater (unvented) and CO detector. 30. Velcro to keep rear table in stowed position. 31. Removed front seats, cleaned sliders & swivels to work like new. 32. Removed and tightened front seat arm rests. 33. Repaired broken cable guide for passenger side power window. 34. Seal coated back side of both front door panels to protect from window leaks. 35. Added 2nd fire extinguisher behind driver's seat. 36. Installed propane quick connect for catalytic heater. 37. Installed digital Inside/Outside thermometer for fridge. 38. New windshield wipers and adjusted positions of. 39. Fridge flue weather cover. 40. Syncro air filter (from Bus Depot). 41. Fold up drink holders on front heater vent cover. 42. New instrument panel light bulbs. 43. And several other minor items.

Gee, I wonder how much money I saved???? Hoping you have as much fun as I have had.. Now that it's all fixed up I'm headed out the the canyons of SE Utah to explore remote canyons for Anasazi Indian ruins. Bill 90 Westy Syncro
