Vans R Toys
I know that Matchbox made several Kombis. I have a
silver one and a lime green one with side doors that
open on the (pip pip wrong side)left side with the
right hand drive. Its pretty well detailed with the
camping interior and a straight up pop top. I got
these in France when I was a kid back in the 60s.
I also have some Type2 panel and crew cab two tone at
a scale slightly smaller than Matchbox but made of the
same colorful Lego plastic. I got these in Germany
back in the early 60's when that was one of the few
places to get Lego blocks and Lego-ville toys.
I too have a Type2 toy made in China on my PC. It is
really ironic that we can't find Vanagon toys but on
these mock chinese knockoffs it is interesting to see
the normal side doors opens as a sliding door.
Another toy manufacturing brand is "NOREV" from
France. They make all sorts of model cars/trucks etc.
out of colorful plastic and with very nice details
equalling the DinkyToys (same scale). They may have
made a Vanagon and may also have a Eurovan. Uhm any
French connection?
Enough rambling and playing with toys...We have the
real thing, right!
Cheers!
