Subject: restoring scraped-up hubcaps
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Not exactly a high-tech topic, but for those of you who have scraped-up or blackened (from baked-on brake dust) hubcaps and have been floored by the price of new ones, here's an idea:

I picked up a $3 can of "aluminum" spray paint yesterday, shot two coats of the stuff on the hubcaps and popped 'em back on within an hour. They're a little shinier than I would have liked, but I'm sure they'll dull out in no time. Filled in some of the curb scratches as well.

I also picked up some flat black and intend to do the front grilles as well (after I scrape the bug guts off).

-Karl
