I have experience with high-powered rocketry, which is what you are attempting. DO NOT BUILD SAID ENGINE YOURSELF!

There are safe (if used properly), inexpensive and reliable high powered rocket engines available.

There are also issues of stability, launch and recovery that require knowledge.
