When I was in college, we managed to stuff 9 of us into my buddy's 1970 bus (non westy). We then drove about 100 miles from the coast up to the mountains. (6,500 feet). I was astounded that we were able to make it up the mountain without getting out and pushing!

Come to think of it, that bus blew the engine about 6 months later - I wonder if it was related....
