The owners manual states pretty clearly that normal operating temperature is anywhere in the bold white zone, and not to be alarmed at variances. Load, climbing, low tire pressure, incorrect timing, fat passengers, and sunspots can cause your temps to escalate. For most VW's, the temp under 'average' conditions is on or near the LED, but I have seen mine near the tippy-top (in Golfs, Jettas, etc.) for hours when in stop and go traffic in the summer with the A/C blasting. No big deal. As an added bonus, when the temp gets at or near the top of the gauge, you get to hear the high speed on your radiator fan; (you will initially think the Second Coming has arrived when you hear it). Stop and check things out if the LED flashes. Cheers, G. Matthew Bulley Bulley-Hewlett & Associates www.bulley-hewlett.com Cary, NC USA 888.468.4880 tollfree

Hello everyone--As you can tell I am new to this Vanagon stuff..but one quick question. When I drive around town the temp gauge usually stays around the middle but occasionally it moves to the right of the little round red light and the radiator kicks on as I am driving. Could this be a bad sign or what? Also...I want to get my coolant flushed out..any recommendations as to where i can get this done..Dealership?--Thanks for the list---Adam
