Dear wisdom of the list, The last three weeks a rumble/vibration developed in the right rear of my Syncro. After an intimate couple of hours with my Vanagon Syncro - suspecting the CV joints I found to my surprise that the large axle nut was not tight although the pin was still in place. (I have had a virus lately of nuts coming loose which should have been ultra tight in various machines). I took the rear wheel assembly apart and found the inner wheel bearing to be loose. Questions: 1. Should I replace both bearings ("while I am at it" versus "don't fix it if it ain't broke"), and I will do the other side too? 2. If the new inner bearing cannot be seated tight (outer ring was slipping) what can I do short of replacing the whole assembly? Thanks, Björn
