Hi Volks: Thanks to help from Mssrs Joel Walker, Bulley et all, I have successfully completed my CV joint and half-axle project! Works fine, and I learned so much doing this project, I want to do more! What made my project difficult? My cv's were on so tight they needed a hydraulic press to remove and reinstall them from the half-axle. Then, the first guy who removed my cv, inserted the new boot without removing the old one. I kid you not! I didn't notice till I got home, as it was "nesting" with he old one. Also, he put the inner race on backwards! So I spent last saturday on the bus, basically, going to crappy tire to have them cut the old boot flange off. Instead, they removed the OTHER cv, pulled the old boot off, and also inserted the inner race on backwards! At this point, I now had two backwards CV's. So, I lugged the half axle to work, and ensured that the cv's were removed and flipped PROPERLY. So, a word from the now-wiser is: make SURE your inner races are put on correctly to the half axle, or the outer race won't be able to be placed in the correct orientation, (ith circuferential groove in outer race pointing away from half-axle)! BTW: There was a note on my Westy this morning from "Margot" asking if I was interested in selling. I'm not, but anybody else? I live in Winnipeg. Cheers!
