For those contemplating a turbo 5000 motor for a vanagon engine swap, be sure the donor motor has strait valves. This is an interference motor, as I found out.

Most important maintenance on this engine is changing the timing belt.

I recently purchased an 86 Audi 5000 turbo, got it cheap because the timing belt went and took out the exhaust valves.

I have pics of the engine damage, pmail if interested.
