Ken, I strongly suspect that the 1/4" line you're using has a larger I.D. than the 7mm, so it's too loose a fit on the hose barbs. It wouldn't be the first time that US standards differed from metric <g>. Also, of course, if you didn't pay $2+(US) a foot then it's almost surely not the right stuff. I bet someone here could tell you the I.D. of the 7mm hose...
