If memory serves, when I replaced my MC a couple of years ago, there was not that much difference between the price of a rebuild kit and a new cylinder; something like $10 or so. Replacing the MC was the first time I had worked on breaks and I was VERY nervous going in. Turns out that the job is not that hard at all. Bleeding the breaks is also not that hard but IS something of a pain as you need to get someone to pump the breaks while you crawl around under the van shouting "UP/DOWN/HOLD". That is, unless you get one of these "One Man Bleed Kits". If you dont have a Bentley you can find pretty much all the info you need at the local library. Pay attention to the order the cylinders bled. In general you start with the cylinder furtherest away from the MC (right rear), then to the next furtherest (left rear) and so on. Make sure you have the proper sized BOX END wrench for the nipples.
