Just to add another data point, I used 1-1/4" EMT on my old 72/73 Loaf stretch as advided by KEP. (http://www.kennedyeng.com//) I was running a V6 and had long pipes going up to the roof and to the front. In 10 years, I didn't use much antifreeze and had no trouble with the EMT radiator pipes corroding.

KEP taught me the trick of welding a small bead around the outside of the pipe near the end to act as the lump which helps hold the rubber hose on.
