Paul-

Is it possible that the buzzer you heard was your oil pressure warning buzzer? With the recent rise in temps, you may be running thin oil, and depending on WHEN the buzzer sounded (like when you were decelerating off the freeway) it may be that your oil pressure is low.

Normally, the oil LED will flash too, but that may be faulty, or you may not have noticed it.

I have been having some strange occurances in my '89 Vanagon lately.

Last week, a buzzer that I assume was the seat belt warning buzzer (I haven't heard it since I bought the van 5 years ago) kept sounding for no apparant reason. It did this intermittantly for a couple of days. I checked all the relays and fuses below the steering wheel to see if they had good contact.

Now I have my right turn signal blinking at twice the pace as the left signal. I should also mention that last week I also had a problem with the idle stabilizer, but that problem seemed to right itself when I re-connected the idle stabilizer control unit.

Has anything similar happened to another listmember? Also, how would I check to make sure the relays are functioning properly as I am assuming I have a short somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated,

Paul Banks '89 Vanagon Westfalia
