YUP - insurance companies are in general the slimiest entities on earth.. Of course they don't want to pay - you are cutting into their profit margin.

the only tips I can give are be FIRM. figure out what the car is really worth with options, mileage, receipts, etc. Figure out what it would cost to replace your car with one EXACTLY like it. Bring in classified ads, etc. Quote a higer figure, then settle for what yours was worth.

Little known - insurance companies WILL adjust their prices if you explain LOUDLY enough the real value of your car. Talk to the adjusters manager, that managers manager, until you eventually get to the department head. Have them explain why you have been paying insurance for years, and now they want to give you nothing. Yelling helps, just make sure you have the paperwork to back it up.

That;s all the help I can give... my insurance company is probably the only one I trust... they have yet to screw me. --- JordanVw@AOL.COM wrote: > the other kid's ins. co etsimator came out and > totalled out my car today.. > has yet to give me a value, but i know i will lose. > > their member nearly killed me, and destroyed my car > of 11 years.....and they > want to give me nothing. > > all that money ive paid in car insurance premiums > over the years...and i get > nothing back. > > insurance companies are nothing but SCAMS. > and it doesnt pay to have collision on my car > because of it's age - my own > ins co would have totalled it too, and given me > nothing. > > its a lose-lose situation. > > the only thing to do, is sue for pain/suffering. > that is the ONLY way you can get decent > compensation. > > here is a few things i have learned... > > GET YOUR CAR APPRAISED!!!!!! now!!! otherwise you > wont get jack squat for > it! > even if its not a classic....if youve put alot of > time and money into your > car or van, the insurance company doesnt care. they > just look in their NADA > or Redbook (worst quotes), and get the value of the > car at it's age/mileage. > they dont use kelly blue book.
