Driving through Italy on a warm humid day, we came to a military checkpoint at a roundabout. Waited our turn. A polite young carabineri walked up the car and requested an explanation for the temporary German plates, American passport, wife and bunch of kids, strange car paperwork and the direction of travel (from Yugoslavia). About that time the full effect of the idling, a/c, and warm day triggered the fan control system and the wind tunnel commenced operation. We were communicating poorly anyway because of my non-Italian and his non-English, so after jumping back a few feet, he just waved us on to save his ears.

Regards, Tom Neal
