Look in the phone book...ask a trusted car dealer or call a collector or look in the advertisements of a car collector paper or magazine. it is not worth it for everyone, as Steve Lashley points out. But i have a syncro westy, a somewhat rare vehicle that is worthy of collectors status, and i have dumped a lot of money into and so it makes sense for me.

Next, i'm looking at collector's car ins. since i don't drive my syncro much except on trips, i should qualify. I may need to join a club and go to a show once a year. under some of these policies, value is pre-determined by an appraisal, and the rates are lower. In fact, one advantage of getting an appraisal is that you may be able to set the value with your insurance company in advance. shop around. tell an independent agent you want such a policy and see what they come up with.

one word of caution. NEVER lie or misrepresent anything in the application. you risk winding up with zero coverage if you do. steve
