Added note: make sure the fluid in the jar/receptacle is scrupulously clean, as it may be sucked back into the wheel cylinder during the bleeding process.

I have a gizmo I bought years ago called "EZI-Bleed" that works on the same principle. Haven't used it with my Vanagon yet, though.
