I guess people in US just don't have the luxury to enjoy a better lighting like everybody else in the world. Blame it on NHTSA, who refuses to upgrade the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 (lamps and reflective devices) to the better European ECE WP29 standard. Our NHTSA allowed high beam DRLs in the first place, refuses to acknowledge that US low beam headlamps produce too much glare (over 5x the glare produced by the ECE low beam), and not to mention who refuses to mandate separate amber rear turn signals or side-visible turn signals of any kind which have become an international safety standard.

As many list members mentioned before, you can always use 99% rubbing alcohol or Windex to rinse your foggy low beam headlamps. It will make your low beam brighter! Replacing higher wattage bulbs may have risk of burning the wire or switch.
